Recently, the shipping company HMM issued a notice "About the Chittagong Port Authority's requirement that all goods passing through Chittagong Port must be transported on pallets."

According to the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA),Less than Container Load (LCL) and Full Container Load (FCL) loaded and unloaded at Chittagong Port must be palletized/packaged according to correct standards and must be marked.

The Chittagong Port Authority said it was observed that in some cases work was being done during stacking of LCL cargo and delivery of LCL/FCL cargo to C&F agents or consignee representatives due to failure to follow proper instructions. becomes more complex.

Therefore, in order to ensure the smooth and safe running of port operations, all parties involved are required to palletize and pack all LCL and FCL cargo in compliance with stipulated standards. Otherwise, the port authority will, in accordance with the CPA regulations,Legal action will be taken against parties that fail to comply, effective from January next year, and customs inspections can be requested.

HMM stated that palletizing/packaging as per standards is the customer's responsibility and that failure to comply will result in appropriate fines being charged to the customer.

Shippers should note at the port of shipment:

1. All goods in the container should be shipped on standard pallets where the quality of the goods remains unchanged.

2. All packaging/cartons of goods should be labeled with appropriate shipping marks that describe the details of the product or goods in the box or container and prompt workers to easily identify the type of product to be handled and the precautions that must be taken.

3. Marks are identification words, numbers or symbols placed on goods to specify the consignee, destination, weight and related information. It also includes information such as the size of the item, country of origin, and the quantity of the product in the container.
