The United States completely bans these 5 Chinese companies from selling in the United States

According to foreign media reports, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently announced that it has voted to pass a new regulation targeting Chinese companies. The import or sale of some communications and surveillance equipment made by Chinese companies is banned on the grounds that the equipment may "pose an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States."

It is reported that the relevant ban not only involvesHuawei, ZTE, also involving Hytera, Hikvision and Zhejiang Dahuaand other monitoring security equipment manufacturers.

The FCC's latest ban applies to authorizations for new devices, but the agency hasn't ruled out revoking previous authorizations, according to the Associated Press.

Public opinion believes thatThe new regulations are another escalation of the U.S. government's suppression of Chinese technology companies, and it is also the latest move by the U.S. to "spare no effort" to strip Chinese equipment from U.S. infrastructure.

打压再升级!美国彻底禁止这5家中企在美销售!外交部回应来了

According to Klon Kitchen, a researcher at the American Enterprise Institute,This move marks a "climax", which means that the Biden administration is still continuing the policies of the Trump era and putting pressure on these Chinese companies.

In fact, the U.S. government has been suppressing Chinese technology companies for a long time.

June 2020,The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has designated Huawei and ZTE as threats to U.S. "national security," and prohibited U.S. telecom operators from using government subsidies set by the Commission to purchase equipment and services from the two Chinese companies.

Last March,The Federal Communications Commission has expanded its scope to include Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision, and Zhejiang Dahua on the list of communication equipment and service providers that pose "unacceptable" risks to national security, and requires the U.S. Telecom operators removed and replaced the equipment and services of 5 companies.

November last year, US President Biden signed the "Security Equipment Act of 2021", and the US Federal Communications Commission will no longer provide any review or issue new equipment licenses for Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE.

At that time, some U.S. lawmakers said that Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE would have "no place to stay" in the U.S. telecommunications network. The FCC said the latest ban was implementing the bill Biden signed.

In this regard, some Chinese enterprises responded that,Chinese products do not pose a security threat to the United States, and this move by the United States will only damage the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, including American users.

Germany has no intention of following US's ban on Huawei

In addition, this move by the United States may also exert influence on other allies. recently,The United Kingdom has asked various departments to stop installing China-related surveillance cameras in sensitive buildings on the grounds of security risks.

However, recently, a spokesman for the German Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that Germany does not intend to follow the example of the United States in banning products produced by Chinese telecom equipment manufacturers such as Huawei, but will continue to make decisions based on the different situations of individual cases.

But this drew criticism from McCaul, the top Republican on the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, who claimed that Germany's decision on Huawei "endangered not only its own national security" but also "the national security of Europe."

"Sharp criticism of Germany's position is unreasonable." German technology magazine "t3n" said,While Germany has not rejected Chinese manufacturers across the board, it has detailed proposals for tighter controls on the use of certain national components in a 104-page strategy document from its economy ministry.

The document refers to Germany's 2020 Information Technology Security Act, which can ban individual components or a certain manufacturer. For example, the prohibition could be used when a vendor provides incorrect information, does not support security audits, or fails to report or correct weaknesses in a timely manner.

"The Voice of Deutsche Welle" recently reported that when asked whether it is expected that Germany or the European Union will tighten the rules, or even ban Huawei equipment,Huawei told Reuters it relied on constructive, fact-oriented dialogue.

"Cyber security is used regardless of the country of origin of the supplier, and security can only be ensured through global standards of cooperation between industry and regulators."

U.S. ban on sales to Chinese companies

What impact will it cause?

The ban has little impact on Huawei, ZTE and other network equipment manufacturers.Since 2017, Huawei and ZTE have been the primary targets of multiple rounds of US sanctions. Due to political factors, Huawei and ZTE currently have little room to expand in the United States, and their revenue in the US market is extremely limited.

The sales ban has a certain impact on camera equipment manufacturers such as Hikvision and Dahua Technology, but the impact is limited.

Citic Securities October 2021 report data show, Hikvision and Dahua share less than 5% of their revenue from the US market.

Regarding the United States' unreasonable suppression of Chinese companies, the spokespersons of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce have repeatedly pointed out that the United States has generalized the concept of national security and restricted market access for Chinese companies' products and services.Abuse of state power to impose sanctions on enterprises violates basic market principles and recognized international economic and trade rules;

It has also damaged the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and consumers, including American users.China will continue to take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
