It is reported that Orient Overseas (OOCL) stated that it has discovered that fraudulent activities have increased recently, reminding customers that fraudsters can hack into email accounts and use various possible means to deceive victims into remittances.
The company explained in the announcement: “The fraudster will pretend to be OOCL and send email notifications to the victim of the change in the receiving bank account, in an attempt to trick the victim into sending money to the fraudster’s receiving account. These fake emails The simulation is very high, please be careful to avoid falling into the trap of fraudsters."
These e-mails seem to be sent by OOCL employees, but they are actually sent from various suspicious e-mail addresses by unauthorized personnel.
OOCL reminds that if customers receive any emails related to bank account changes, they must call the company's local agent for verification.

OOCL added: "An unknown or fraudulent email will ask you to click on a link to visit the website. If you are in doubt about the credibility of the website with the OOCL name, please manually enter the URL through your browser: https: //www.oocl.com, visit OOCL’s official website, don’t directly click on the hyperlink provided in the email."
OOCL reminds customers that they must be vigilant when receiving such fraudulent emails:
• Contact OOCL directly using trusted methods, such as known email and phone numbers. Two-step verification methods provide better security.
• Don't make decisions in a hurry or under pressure. In any case, a real bank or other trusted institution will not force financial transactions on the spot or by clicking on the hyperlinks they provide.
• Report any suspicious phishing attempts. Please report any fraudulent or suspicious emails you receive to OOCL customer service through your usual contact methods.
• All communication emails from OOCL are from the @oocl.com domain name. Please contact our customer service representative to verify the email in question.

OOCL stated that it would like to remind customers to be vigilant to protect themselves from any potential economic losses and network risks.

At the same time, in the past few months, the cybercrime intelligence company Intel 471 has observed that Internet access agents sell shipping and logistics companies’ access credentials or other forms of access rights in underground cybercrime activities.
Intel 471 said: "These shipping and logistics companies operate air, land, and ocean freight on several continents, and are responsible for the transportation of goods worth billions of dollars worldwide."
Participants responsible for selling these access credentials range from newcomers to the most prolific network access agents tracked by Intel 471. These participants used vulnerabilities in remote access solutions to obtain access credentials for shipping and logistics companies.
The cybercrime intelligence company said that while the shipping industry is struggling to operate, a successful attack may bring the industry to a sharp halt and bring unforeseen consequences to the consumer's economy.
Remind the consignor, freight forwarder and other partners to be wary of online fraud and beware of economic losses.
