In 2026, ANL will celebrate its 70th anniversary. ANL was established in 1956 as an Australian government-owned shipping company and has grown over the years alongside the businesses and communities it serves. Since joining the CMA CGM Group in 1998, ANL has maintained its deep regional roots while expanding its service network to Oceania and other regions.

Its 23 routes connect Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands with Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent and North America. As part of the CMA CGM Group's global network of 331 ports, ANL calls at 61 of them.
ANL continues to expand its route network based on customer needs. 2026, ANL has launched a new ACX route connecting China and Australia. Its coverage has also been extended to Port Vila and Santo in Vanuatu, as well as Gladstone, Port Hedland, Dampier and Wyndham in Australia.
In terms of assisting trade in Oceania, ANL has helped Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Island companies enter international markets for seventy years. Its routes transport a wide variety of goods, including dairy products, meat, cereals, grains, flour and packaged foods. In 2025, Australian export cargo transported by ANL included more than 27,000 containers of cotton, 35,000 containers of meat and 12,000 containers of citrus fruit. From New Zealand, ANL transported 8,600 containers of kiwis, 10,500 containers of apples and pears, and more than 39,000 containers of dairy products.
In promoting more sustainable shipping, ANL is aligned with CMA CGM’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and is assisting in the introduction of low-carbon shipping solutions in Oceania. In 2022, ANL carried out the region's first biofuel test for container shipping; in 2025, it operated Oceania's first LNG-powered container ship. ANL also supports projects that protect the area's natural environment. Its Coral Reef Restoration Program helps build and maintain coral nurseries on the Great Barrier Reef, with participating customers providing support based on their import and export volumes. Through its Rebuilding Koala Habitat initiative, ANL has planted thousands of trees over the past few years.
