What is the IPPC logo?

Simply put, IPPC is an international convention. The addition of the IPPC logo to wooden packaging means that the pest control treatment has been carried out in accordance with regulations and is qualified and does not carry harmful organisms. Like this:

In the logo, the left side is the symbol of IPPC, the right side CN represents China, and 31016 is the enterprise code of the logo. HT means heat treatment, and if it is MB, it means methyl bromide fumigation.

Which packaging needs to be labeled with IPPC?

The production process of some wooden packaging has reached the conditions for pest control treatment and no longer requires special pest control treatment. For example, wooden boxes and pallets made entirely of plywood, particleboard, fiberboard and other artificial boards. Or all made of thin boards (including shavings, wood chips, etc.) with a thickness less than 6mm, or wooden packaging that has been treated during the production process, such as wine barrels, wooden gift boxes, etc.

In addition to the above, all wooden packaging containing solid wood parts must be detoxified in accordance with regulations and bear the standardized IPPC logo, such as the following wooden packaging:

Entry and exit enterprises should accurately define the scope of wood packaging. At the same time, they should focus on the relevant regulations on wood packaging in the destination country and implement corresponding processing in accordance with the regulations to avoid losses.

What are the customs requirements for outbound wooden packaging?

The customs conducts random inspections and quarantines on the wooden packaging used for outbound goods. If it is found that it does not comply with the regulations, it will not be allowed to leave the country.

How to add IPPC marking to the wooden packaging of outbound goods?

Only enterprises that have obtained customs permission to apply labels on wooden packaging of outbound goods can produce and apply IPPC marks on wooden packages of outbound goods. Up to now, the enterprises in my country that have obtained the qualification for labeling have been announced on the official website of the General Administration of Customs.

(Those who forge, alter or misappropriate signs will be punished in accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China" and its implementation regulations.)

Enterprises that use wooden packaging can purchase wooden packaging from qualified label application companies, and require label application companies to provide certificates of qualifications for the detoxification treatment of wooden packaging for outbound goods.

If the exported goods are packaged in natural wood, they must be marked with IPPC according to the country of export destination. For example, if the packages of goods exported to the EU, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia and other countries are packaged in softwood, they must be fumigated..

Fumigation is now regulated. The fumigation team fumigates the container according to the box number. That is, after the goods arrive at the site, the professional fumigation team puts the IPPC logo on the packaging. (Customs declarer) fills in the fumigation contact form, which shows the customer name, country, box number, chemicals used, etc. → (Fumigation team) labels (about half a day) → fumigation (24 hours) → powdered medicine (4 hours).

Fumigation and pest control agencies must carefully apply the IPPC logo. Solid wood packaging that has passed fumigation and other pest control treatments must be marked with an IPPC mark. The mark must be obvious and convenient for inspection during foreign customs clearance. At the same time, inspections must be done to check the status of the outbound labels of wooden packages that have passed fumigation and pest control treatments to avoid missing labels. Businesses suffer unnecessary losses. As a user, you should also carefully check whether the wooden packaging has corresponding markings when packaging. If not, you should immediately contact the fumigation and pest control agency.

Export companies that use wooden packaging must carefully implement the wood packaging pest control work. The cost of disinfestation and treatment of wooden packaging is relatively low. You must not suffer the high risk and loss of returned shipment just to save a little cost of fumigation and disinfestation.
