The current world situation remains unstable. Armed conflict has broken out in another African country.

Since April 15 local time, large-scale armed clashes have continued between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support forces. Since the outbreak of the conflict, 256 civilians have been killed and another 1,454 wounded. Thirteen hospitals were bombed throughout the Sudan, forcing the evacuation of staff from 19 hospitals. Sudan's civil aviation Authority announced Tuesday that the country's airspace closure will be extended until April 30. New reports say some 20,000 Sudanese have fled to neighbouring Chad after both sides in the conflict refused to negotiate.

Due to the deteriorating situation in Sudan and the unpredictable delay of the shipment schedule, OOCL has issued a notice to stop all new bookings from Sudan.

Maersk also issued a notice to customers saying that due to the current situation in Sudan, Maersk offices in Khartoum and Port Sudan would be closed until further notice.

Concerned for the safety and well-being of local employees, Maersk initiated a crisis response plan and all employees are sheltering in their accommodation. The current situation has disrupted the normal operation of the business and Maersk is closely monitoring the situation in order to better and safely resume operations. At the same time, plans are being developed to provide customers with the best solutions to manage the supply chain.
