A billion dollars!Heberot builds six 23,500+TEU container ships
On December 23, Heberot released news that it had placed orders for the construction of six VLCS.Daewoo, a South Korean shipyard, holds all the orders with a capacity of 23,500+TEU per vessel, powered by LNG dual-fuel.
Under the shipbuilding plan, new ships will be delivered between April and December 2023.As part of THE Alliance, THE VLCCS will be launched on THE European-Far East route.This will further enhance the company's competitiveness on the route, Mr Haeperot said.At the same time, to implement the sustainability strategy, the new ship will be equipped with state of the art high pressure dual fuel engines capable of using LNG fuel, while also having enough storage capacity to run on conventional fuel.
Rolf Habben Jansen, CHIEF Executive officer, Said, "By investing in six VLCS, we have not only been able to reduce our single container costs and improve our competitiveness in Euro-Far East trade, but have also taken an important step towards modernising our fleet.In addition, we will further reduce the environmental impact of ship operations."
It's worth noting that the total value of the order is up to $1 billion, equivalent to $166 million per ship.At present, the ship has been locked up.
