Forums, exhibitions present opportunities for China\'s e-commerce

Alex China Daily 2021-09-23 19:14:30

Cross-border e-commerce has become a new trend in global trade, with the promotion and development of the digital economy accelerating despite unfavorable factors, industry experts said recently.

Through participating in cross-border forums and overseas exhibitions, Chinese enterprises make concerted efforts to set the development direction for the cross-border e-commerce industry and grasp new opportunities emerging with digital transformations.

According to data from Made-in-China.com, inquiries for office electronics increased by 58 percent this year in Guangdong province, and requests for supporting products including projectors and cameras grew 307 percent. Made-in-China.com predicts the ongoing pandemic and consumption habits will continue to drive demand growth in related markets.

Cross-border e-commerce enterprises should explore overseas retail markets by establishing refined operations, improving supply chain capabilities and creating high-quality experiences for customers, experts said at a forum during the China (Shenzhen) Cross-border E-commerce Exhibition.

Chinese companies also participate in overseas offline exhibitions to seek new markets. One such exhibition is THE BIG 5 2021, the largest in the Middle East for architecture, building materials and services with buyers from Saudi Arabia, Iran and other countries. Statistics showed about 45 percent of building materials in the Middle East are imported from other countries. As the government and private sector have launched large-scale infrastructure projects, combined with the impact of the pandemic, the local demand for cement, ceramic tiles and marble has significantly increased. Under such circumstances, local enterprises plan to continue to cooperate with Chinese suppliers, which is a great opportunity to build new factories.

Through participation in exhibitions and industry forums at home and abroad, Chinese manufacturing has gained more customers and markets. In the future, cross-border logistics should be improved and made the strategic service direction in order to provide logistics services for Chinese foreign trade enterprises and seize new business opportunities.
