According to international reports, a company specializing in handling maritime and transportation claims revealed that on August 19, a general cargo ship named "EFES" encountered a fire in the waters of the Bay of Bengal, India. The incident occurred approximately 540 nautical miles east of Chennai, India.
The Chennai Maritime Rescue Coordination Center has issued a request for assistance to ships in nearby waters to help the distressed cargo ship. Currently, the specific cause and circumstances of the fire are still under investigation.
Information shows that "EFES" is a general cargo ship registered in Panama, with a length of 100.55 meters and a width of 16.6 meters. According to maritime traffic data, the ship set sail from Visakhapatnam, India, on August 17 after loading some cargo, and its destination was Port Klang, Malaysia.
Currently, the ship, built in 1999, has lost signal contact. It is worth noting that since August, there have been many ship fires and explosions at sea.
