Maersk imposes peak season surcharge PSS from Far East to South America


In order to continue to provide you with our global services, Maersk is revising the Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) from Far East Asia to the East Coast of South America, effective January 1, 2024. Details are as follows:

Maersk imposes transportation disruption surcharge TDS and peak season surcharge PSS
Moving ships around the Cape of Good Hope to mitigate the ongoing risks of sailing in the area is a necessary step for safety reasons, but ultimately increases costs for carriers. Maersk therefore invokes Clause 20(a) of the Conditions of Carriage and Clause 22(a) of the Bill of Lading (whichever is appropriate for the carriage in question) to recover these costs.
These additional charges will be effective immediately until further notice and will apply to bookings departing from Far East Asia and may be re-routed. This includes goods already “on the water” that have been or will be moved. It will appear on customer invoices as a Transportation Disruption Surcharge (TDS). Fee details are as follows:

In addition, due to severe operational disruptions, Maersk announced that it will impose peak season surcharges (PSS) on specific markets in Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and North America and East from January 1, 2024, until further notice, as shown in the table below.
