The TikTok Shop Indonesia site has been shut down for more than a month, and there are various signs that TikTok is still trying to come back.

It is reported that TikTok Shop may restart its e-commerce business in Indonesia by cooperating with other e-commerce platforms.

Recently, TikTok has been negotiating with a number of local Indonesian e-commerce companies, including Tokopedia, Bukalapak, Blibli, etc., hoping to find solutions to restart TikTok's e-commerce business in Indonesia.

TikTok CEO Zhou Shouzi also wrote to Indonesian President Joko Widodo, requesting to meet with him to further discuss matters related to TikTok’s e-commerce business in Indonesia after the new regulations. While actively negotiating, TikTok seems to be considering following Meta Follow the steps and apply for an e-commerce license from the Indonesian government.

Although the Indonesian government decided to ban the operation of TikTok in Indonesia, other countries in Southeast Asia have not taken similar measures to cease operations. Instead, they are increasing deeper cooperation with TikTok to promote the development of e-commerce.

The reason why other countries in Southeast Asia have increased cooperation with TikTok is because they see the huge potential of e-commerce. By cooperating with social media platforms such as TikTok, these countries can better regulate the market, and at the same time, consumers can gain more choices and convenience.
