The Short Answer on China–UK Door-to-Door Shipping
A door-to-door shipment from China to the UK runs under one contract: factory pickup in China, export filing, ocean or air carriage, HMRC clearance through the Customs Declaration Service, and delivery to a British postcode. Sunny Worldwide Logistics (SZ) Limited has arranged this lane since 1998. Sea transit runs 25 to 35 days port-to-port; air freight runs 5 to 8 days.
What Door-to-Door Covers on This Lane
Door-to-door on the UK lane means the consignee in Britain never touches a port, a customs system or an inland carrier. The scope covers collection from the supplier, export declaration in China, booking and carriage to a UK gateway, import declaration and duty or VAT settlement, and final delivery to a warehouse, fulfilment centre or retail address.
We load general merchandise, furniture, homeware, textiles, machinery parts, consumer electronics, e-bikes and oversized cargo from Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Ningbo and Shanghai. Ocean services call at Felixstowe, Southampton, London Gateway and Liverpool. Air cargo arrives at Heathrow, East Midlands and Manchester, with road delivery onward anywhere in England, Scotland and Wales.
Two things sit outside a standard quotation: goods moving into Northern Ireland, which follow different customs and wood packaging rules, and product categories that need a UK import authorisation such as certain food, plant, medical and controlled items.

UK Customs Work That Must Be Finished Before the Vessel Sails
You need a GB EORI number. An Economic Operators Registration and Identification number is required to move goods between Great Britain and any other country, and to use customs systems such as the Customs Declaration Service. A business needs a UK premises to apply in its own name; where there is no UK establishment, you appoint someone to deal with customs and that representative holds the EORI instead.
Import declarations run on the Customs Declaration Service. The older CHIEF system can no longer be used for import declarations. Declaration data — commodity codes, values, origin, preference claims — has to be complete and consistent before the vessel berths, which is why our documentation desk starts assembling it at booking rather than at arrival.
Postponed VAT accounting keeps cash at work. A UK VAT-registered importer can declare and recover import VAT on the same VAT Return instead of paying it at the border and reclaiming later. It requires your VAT number at header level on the declaration and a written instruction to whoever lodges it, and it must be selected at submission because the method cannot be changed afterwards.
The £135 consignment rule is changing. Consignments valued at £135 or less currently receive customs duty relief. The UK government confirmed in July 2026 that this relief will be repealed and replaced, with the new arrangements taking effect by October 2028. Above the threshold, standard duty and 20 per cent import VAT apply.
Solid wood packaging must carry the ISPM 15 mark. Pallets, crates and dunnage must be made of debarked wood and either heat treated to 56°C for 30 continuous minutes through the full profile or fumigated with methyl bromide or sulphuryl fluoride, then marked. A phytosanitary certificate cannot substitute for the mark, and wood packaging may be inspected at the border or at inland premises, with non-compliant material liable to rejection or destruction.
CE marking continues to be accepted for most regulated goods. For the vast majority of product categories placed on the market in Great Britain, CE marking recognition has been extended indefinitely, and UKCA marking remains valid alongside it. Medical devices and a small number of other categories follow separate rules that should be confirmed before production.

Why Shippers Route UK Cargo Through Sunny Worldwide Logistics (SZ) Limited
- The declaration matches the container. Our trucking company at Shenzhen sea port loads the box itself, so the weights, package counts and descriptions filed on the import declaration reflect what was actually shipped rather than a supplier's estimate.
- A documentation desk built for customs data. We assemble commodity codes, values and origin detail into the format the Customs Declaration Service expects, which shortens the gap between berthing and release.
- Import VAT handled on written instruction. We collect your elected VAT treatment in writing at booking, so postponed VAT accounting is selected correctly on the declaration and cannot be reversed later.
- A hedging plan for the £135 reform. As low value duty relief is withdrawn by October 2028, we model the landed cost under both the current and the replacement treatment and recommend whether to consolidate consignments.
- Continuous operation since 1998. More than 25 years on the China export side, with the same file handler following your shipment from quotation through to UK delivery.
About the Company Behind the UK Lane
Founded in 1998, Sunny Worldwide Logistics (SZ) Limited works as a China-based freight forwarder covering domestic and international movements. Its Shenzhen operation includes a Class A office of 1,800 square metres and a trucking company based at Shenzhen sea port — the asset that lets the company load and gate in a container without buying in third-party haulage. Around that infrastructure sit carrier contracts, an in-house documentation desk and more than 25 years of continuous trading.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an EORI number to import from China into the UK? Yes, for commercial goods. A GB EORI number is required to move goods between Great Britain and other countries and to use the Customs Declaration Service. If your business has no UK premises, you appoint a representative to deal with customs and they hold the EORI number instead.
What is postponed VAT accounting and can I use it? It lets a UK VAT-registered importer declare and recover import VAT on the same VAT Return instead of paying it at the border. You need your VAT number on the declaration and must give whoever lodges it written instruction before submission, because the choice cannot be changed afterwards.
What happens if my consignment is worth £135 or less? Consignments of £135 or less currently receive customs duty relief. The UK government confirmed in July 2026 that this relief will be repealed and replaced, with the new arrangements in force by October 2028. We quote both treatments so the landed cost is not a surprise.
How long does sea freight from China to the UK take? Direct services from Shenzhen, Ningbo and Shanghai to Felixstowe, Southampton and London Gateway take about 25 to 35 days port-to-port. Adding clearance and inland delivery, plan on 30 to 40 days door-to-door.
What do I have to do about wood packaging for UK imports? Solid wood pallets, crates and dunnage must be debarked, heat treated to 56°C for 30 continuous minutes or fumigated, and stamped with the ISPM 15 mark. A treatment certificate does not replace the mark, and non-compliant packaging can be rejected or destroyed on arrival.
Do goods shipped to the UK need UKCA marking, or is CE enough? For the vast majority of regulated product categories in Great Britain, CE marking continues to be accepted under an indefinite extension, and UKCA marking is also recognised. Medical devices and some other categories have separate rules, so confirm the position for your product before production.
