COSCO Shipping Ports Abu Dhabi Terminal reaches important milestone

On December 3, local time, the day after the “54th National Day of the United Arab Emirates”, COSCO Shipping Ports Abu Dhabi Terminal (referred to as CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal) once again ushered in an operational milestone - since the opening of the port, the cumulative container throughput exceeded 7.5 million TEU.

On the same day, the container was unloaded from the "COSCO Shipping Aquarius" ship and accurately hoisted to the terminal's smart collection card, which vividly demonstrated the full-chain service capabilities of CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal from ships, cargo to smart port operations.

It is understood that CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal is the first overseas-controlled greenfield project of COSCO Shipping Ports. Since its opening on December 10, 2018, it has been positioned as "COSCO Shipping's No. 1 Port in the Middle East" to the "Middle East Hub Port" and its service level has been rising.

In 2019, ultra-large ships of 14,000 TEU and 21,000 TEU were berthed successively; in 2022, the annual container throughput exceeded 1 million TEU; in 2023, the largest ship with 24,000 TEU in Khalifa Port was berthed, and the annual container throughput exceeded 1.35 million TEU; in 2024, the annual container throughput exceeded 1.84 million TEU, with a growth rate of more than 35% for three consecutive years.

COSCO Shipping's three "integrated" strategies and service capabilities of "shipping port logistics", "investment operation management" and "hub channel network" have been successfully implemented here. Our terminal operation capabilities and service efficiency have been widely recognized by the world’s top shipping companies. The three major global shipping alliances use CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal as an important hub, connecting more than 60 ports around the world.

CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal is also a pioneer in green wisdom in the region. As the first smart terminal in the Middle East to deploy smart card collection on a large scale, this year, the smart card collection operation volume exceeded 200,000 TEU. Continue to verify stability and efficiency in real operating scenarios, promote the upgrade and application of intelligent equipment such as IGV, and build an intelligent system covering the entire operation chain.

In addition, CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal × Station joins hands with industry chain partners to build overseas warehouses, expand supply chain services, and constantly surpass traditional terminal functions to become a comprehensive logistics platform serving regional economic and trade development.

COSCO Shipping Ports stated that standing at a new starting point of 7.5 million TEU, CSP Abu Dhabi Terminals is actively integrating into the "UAE Vision 2030" and Abu Dhabi's economic transformation strategy with economic diversification, knowledge innovation and sustainable development as its core, and pursuing a higher level of strategic fit and value symbiosis.

Looking forward to the future, CSP Abu Dhabi Terminals will fully seize the historical opportunity of upgrading the energy level of hub ports, promote the 600-meter shoreline expansion project, continue to increase the construction of smart green ports, and continue to enhance its status as a core logistics hub in the Middle East.
