Ship on fire in Los Angeles port has been declared general average

On the evening of November 21, local time, a container ship fire broke out at the Port of Los Angeles in the United States.
The cargo ship "ONE HENRY HUDSON" suddenly caught fire while docking at the port. The fire spread quickly and caused an explosion. Currently, the ship has been declared general average.
The accident temporarily suspended operations at four of the seven terminals. Fortunately, all crew members on the ship were safely evacuated and no casualties were reported. Subsequently, the fire was brought under control and the ship was towed to an anchorage off the Port of Los Angeles.
According to the latest news, the ship has officially declared general average, and has entrusted Richards Hogg Lindley as the average adjuster to handle relevant guarantees and documents.
According to previous foreign media reports, among the approximately 8,000 containers on the ship, it is initially estimated that approximately 100-117 containers were burned or damaged.
The ONE announcement shows that all cargo owners or their insurance companies need to proactively contact the designated average adjuster and submit a general average guarantee and related materials. The goods will be temporarily detained and will not be released until the necessary procedures are completed.
