COSCO Shipping Lines confirms that new bookings for multiple Middle East countries have been resumed through intermodal transport

Sunny Worldwide LogisticsIt is a logistics company with more than 20 years of transportation experience, focusing on markets such as Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, and Southeast Asia. It is more of a cargo owner than a cargo owner~

On the evening of March 25th,COSCO Shipping Lines issued a revised service reminder in the Middle East, announcing that from now on, it will resume new booking business (general boxes) from the Far East to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, Oman and other countries through multimodal transportation. This restoration is a further refinement following the morning announcement on March 25, which clarified the specific transportation route arrangements.

According to the announcement, COSCO Shipping Lines will provide the following three transportation options based on the situation in the Middle East and space availability:

1. Local cargo in Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali

Goods can be transported to the destination via bonded land bridge via any port in Khor Fakkan or Fujairah. This plan bypasses the risk of direct passage through the Strait of Hormuz and uses safe ports along the Gulf of Oman as transit nodes.

2. Goods from the upper reaches of the Gulf

The goods first pass through Khor Fakkan or Fujairah port and are transported to the Abu Dhabi CSP Terminal through a bonded land bridge. They are then connected to the own feeder network with the terminal as the hub and transferred to other parts of the UAE, as well as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq. This plan makes full use of COSCO Shipping's regional branch network advantages and provides a stable logistics channel for the upper reaches of the Gulf countries.

3. Oman cargo

The goods are transshipped from the New Port of Mumbai, India to Sohar Port in Oman, and enter the Oman market through transshipment in a third country.

COSCO Shipping Lines stated in the announcement that in view of the continued uncertainty in the situation in the Middle East, the specific arrangements for the above-mentioned new booking business and the actual transportation process may be adjusted according to the development of the situation. It is recommended that customers directly communicate with local agents, customer service representatives or the company for specific booking arrangements, fees and transportation terms.

The announcement also clarified that all previously accepted bookings from the Far East to the Middle East are not affected by this new announcement and will continue to be implemented as originally planned. COSCO Shipping Lines stated that it will continue to pay attention to the evolution of the situation in the Middle East and promptly notify customers of subsequent developments through its official website and customer service channels.

Since the escalation of the US-Israeli military action against Iran at the end of February, the security of passage in the Strait of Hormuz has been seriously affected, and many liner companies have successively suspended booking services in the Middle East or adjusted route arrangements. As the situation has gradually eased recently, some shipping companies have begun to try to restore regional business through alternative solutions such as intermodal transport. COSCO Shipping's resumption of bookings through the combination of "land bridge branch line" not only reflects its prudent response to safety risks, but also provides a feasible path for the gradual restoration of intra-regional trade channels.

The resumption of bookings by COSCO Shipping Lines in many countries in the Middle East marks the gradual restoration of trade channels in the region. Through intermodal transportation alternatives, new options are provided for the flow of goods from the Far East to the Middle East while ensuring transportation safety. Relevant cargo owners and freight forwarding companies can communicate in detail with COSCO Shipping's local agents or customer service representatives about transportation arrangements and cost details based on specific needs, and make shipment plans in advance.
