Sunny Worldwide LogisticsIt is a logistics company with more than 20 years of transportation experience, focusing on markets such as Europe, America, Canada, Australia, Southeast Asia, etc., and is more than the owner of the cargo owner.

According to foreign media reports, in the early morning of June 4, 2025, a car transport ship named "Morning Midas" suddenly broke out in a fire about 300 nautical miles southwest of Adak Island, Alaska.

According to reports, the ship carries 3,159 cars, 65 of which are pure electric vehicles and 681 are partially hybrid electric vehicles. It departed from Yantai Port, China on May 26. It has previously been affiliated with multiple ports such as Guangzhou and Yangshan. It was originally scheduled to arrive at the Port of Lhasa Rocardanas, Mexico on June 15.

The “Morning Midas” wheel is managed by London-based Zodiac Maritime, with Liberian flag flying. It was built in 2006 and owned by Hawthorn Navigation Inc. and has joined the Steamship Mutual Mutual Association in the UK.

According to a statement released by Zodiac Maritime, smoke was first found on the ship on the cargo deck loading electric vehicles, and the crew immediately activated the ship's fire extinguishing system, but the fire spread rapidly and could not be effectively controlled.

After consultation with the U.S. Coast Guard, it was decided to evacuate all 22 seafarers to a nearby ship. The U.S. Coast Guard said in a statement that the crew first evacuated to the life raft and then to the container ship "COSCO Hellas" without any injuries.

The U.S. Coast Guard said in a statement issued on June 4 at 4:39 pm ET that the current fire situation is not clear, but smoke is still coming from the ship.

“As our rescue operations are over, our crew are working closely with the ship’s parent company, Zodiac Maritime, to determine the ship’s disposal,” said a Coast Guard official. “We thank the three nearby ships that assisted in the rescue and the selfless dedication of the crew of the COSCO Hellas, who helped save 22 lives.” At present, salvage work is underway and a tug is deployed to support the firefighting operation.

Public information shows that the leaser of the "Morning Midas" car transport ship is Anji Logistics. It is not clear at this time the specific brand and model of the electric vehicle on board is the same.
