China to Denmark Door to Door Ddu Ddp Cheap Shipping Service

The Short Answer

Denmark is the only European Union member without a positive reduced VAT rate. Everything taxable sits at 25 per cent, the highest standard rate in the bloc, and the system's only other number is zero, held back for exports and a short list such as newspapers. There is no band to argue a product into, which removes one kind of uncertainty and adds another: the packaging bill arrives as three separate charges rather than one, spread across the tax authority, a producer register and a deposit scheme. A Danish DDP quotation is only honest if all three are inside it.

What a Booking Covers

A single contract covers collection at your supplier, the export declaration, the sea or air leg, the Danish import entry, duty and 25 per cent VAT, and delivery to the address.

On DDP we stand as importer, settle the duty and the VAT at release, and the consignee receives cleared cargo against one invoice in Danish kroner.

On DDU the consignee takes the entry, pays at release in its own name, and separately inherits whichever of the three packaging charges attach to the goods.

Three Failures, and Who Pays for Them

Most Danish disputes are not about freight. They are about which party was supposed to do something before the cargo moved.

The box arrives before the registration

Producer responsibility for packaging only became operative in Denmark on 1 October 2025, so registration with the producer register is recent enough that many first-time importers still treat it as optional. It is not: the party placing packaged goods on the market registers and joins an approved collective scheme. Under DDP that sits with us; under DDU a buyer that has never shipped before discovers the gap on the week of arrival.

The buyer cannot deduct the 25 per cent

A quarter of the value is a large number to carry. A Danish consignee with taxable activity recovers it through its return, but a private buyer, a holding company or a foreign entity without Danish registration does not, and the tax becomes landed cost. DDP removes that question from the buyer entirely because the recovery is ours.

The deposit lands on the wrong side of the invoice

Beverage containers carry a deposit that is collected and refunded through the return system rather than through customs. It is easy for a DDP price to include the freight and the VAT while leaving the deposit to surface later as an unbudgeted line, which is why the deposit position is stated at quotation rather than discovered at delivery.

Which Gateway Serves Which Part of Denmark

Denmark is narrow enough that the gateway choice follows the consignee's postcode more than the ocean schedule.

  1. Jutland and Funen. Aarhus is the country's main container port and the natural entry for the peninsula and the island belt, at 30 to 38 days door to door from a Chinese base port.
  2. South Jutland. A container discharged at Hamburg and trucked north crosses into Jutland in a few hours, which sometimes beats waiting for a Danish call even though the sea leg ends in Germany.
  3. Zealand and Copenhagen. The capital's port handles limited container volume, so southern Zealand is often served through Malmö on the Swedish side of the Øresund link, with the truck crossing the bridge rather than the sea.
  4. Time-critical cargo. Copenhagen Airport for the capital and Billund for Jutland, with 5 to 8 days door to door once the entry is released.

Distribution beyond Denmark follows the same map: Sweden is a continuation of the same customs territory, while Norway is outside the union and needs an export declaration and a separate Norwegian entry.

Denmark Charges Packaging Three Times

The excise duty on certain packaging

Denmark levies an excise duty on specified packaging, with rates set by packaging type and revised each year, and a business bringing such goods into the country registers with the tax authority to account for it. It is a duty of consumption rather than a customs charge, so it survives the shift from DDU to DDP unless somebody prices it in.

The producer register and the collective scheme

Registration sits with the Danish producer responsibility body, and registration alone does not discharge the obligation: a producer also joins an approved collective scheme that finances collection and recycling. Both steps are per producer, not per shipment, so they are set up once and then reported against tonnage.

The deposit on drink containers

Bottles and cans sold in Denmark carry a deposit administered by the national return system, which reports a return rate above 90 per cent. For an importer of beverages the deposit is a working-capital item as much as a compliance one, because the money is collected up front and recovered only as containers come back.

One rate, one currency question

VAT is 25 per cent without exception, and the krone is pegged to the euro inside the exchange-rate mechanism at a central rate near 7.46, so a euro quotation converts at a predictable figure instead of a floating one. That combination is unusual in Europe: no rate to optimise and no currency to hedge.

Why Shippers Route Danish Cargo Through Us

Denmark rewards preparation and punishes improvisation, because the three packaging charges are all registrations rather than transactions. Get them set up before the first booking and the country runs smoothly; leave one until arrival and the container waits for paperwork. Sunny Worldwide Logistics (SZ) Limited maps those registrations against the first shipment, prices the corridor against the delivery date, and keeps the entry, the invoice and the packaging report in one file so the tonnage declared matches the goods declared.

Collection is handled by our own fleet at the Shenzhen terminal rather than a subcontracted hauler, which keeps the sailing date inside our control instead of at the edge of it.

The Company Behind the Entry

Sunny Worldwide Logistics (SZ) Limited has moved freight from Shenzhen since 1998, operating as a domestic and international forwarder with its own transport capacity rather than a brokered network. A 1,800 square metre Class A office in Shenzhen and a trucking company at the sea port keep collection, terminal handling and the customs file within a single organisation.

Questions Importers Ask About Danish DDP

Q: Is there really no reduced VAT rate in Denmark?

A: There is no positive reduced rate. Goods and services are taxed at 25 per cent or fall outside the charge through exemption or zero-rating, and zero-rating is confined to things such as exports and newspapers. Nothing in the tariff lets an importer argue a line into a lower band.

Q: When did the packaging registration start to apply?

A: Producer responsibility for packaging became operative on 1 October 2025. Registration with the producer register and membership of a collective scheme are both required, and both attach to the producer rather than to individual consignments.

Q: Do we pay the packaging excise duty as well as the EPR fee?

A: They are different instruments. The excise duty is a consumption tax on specified packaging, accounted for with the tax authority, while the EPR fee finances collection and recycling through the collective scheme. A complete Danish price carries both where they apply.

Q: Does a deposit apply to every shipment?

A: Only where the goods are beverage containers covered by the return system. For machinery, furniture or textiles there is no deposit, but the excise duty and the EPR registration can still apply, which is why the question is asked at quotation.

Q: Can we invoice in euro instead of kroner?

A: The krone is pegged to the euro within the exchange-rate mechanism at a central rate near 7.46, so a euro figure converts predictably. Danish invoices are normally issued in kroner, and the conversion is arithmetic rather than a commercial negotiation.

Q: Is Aarhus always the right port?

A: For Jutland and Funen it usually is. For southern Zealand a Swedish discharge at Malmö followed by the bridge often works better, and for south Jutland a German discharge at Hamburg can be quicker than waiting for a Danish call.

Get a DDP or DDU Figure for Denmark

Send the commodity, the carton count, the delivery postcode and the packaging materials, and say whether any line is a beverage container. That last detail decides whether a deposit belongs in the price, and it is the item most often left out of a first enquiry.

Each corridor is quoted twice for comparison: an all-in figure with duty and VAT inside it, and a delivery-only figure that leaves the tax with your buyer. Samira Chen handles Danish enquiries at sales38@swwlogistics.com.cn and on +86 13428330724 by phone or WhatsApp, and a priced reply normally goes back within one working day.
