Recently, the latest SCFI index released by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange was 1198.21 points, a sharp drop from the previous period, with a drop of 14.3%.

Among them, the four major routes all fell, with freight rates of US,636/FEU and US,557/FEU, a drop of astonishing 31.0% and 22.7%; freight rates of European and Mediterranean routes also continued to fall, down 8.8% and 5.8% respectively.

Previously, due to the adjustment of shipping company capacity, freight rates in North America have been driven to rise for two consecutive weeks. However, as transportation demand declined compared with early September, the spot market booking price fell significantly.

On September 19, the market freight rates (mass and sea freight surcharges) of Shanghai Port to the West and East of the United States were US,636/FEU and US,557/FEU, respectively, down 31.0% and 22.7% from the previous period, respectively.

For European routes, market freight rates continue to decline. On September 19, the freight rate (sea and sea freight surcharge) of Shanghai Port exports to the European basic port market was US,052/TEU, down 8.8% from the previous period.

The Mediterranean routes and the supply and demand fundamentals of the transportation market are weak. On September 19, the market freight rate (mass and sea freight surcharge) of Shanghai Port exports to the Mediterranean Basic Port was US,638/TEU, down 5.8% from the previous period.

On the Persian Gulf routes, market freight rates have also declined sharply. On September 19, the freight rate (sea and sea freight surcharge) of the Persian Gulf basic port market was US1/TEU, down 22.2% from the previous period.

The freight rates of the Australian and New Zealand routes continued to decline. On September 19, the freight rates of Shanghai Port exports to the Australian and New Zealand basic port (sea and sea freight surcharge) were US,158/TEU, down 8.0% from the previous period.

The freight rate decline of South American routes is also expanding. The freight rate (mass and sea freight surcharge) from Shanghai Port to South America's basic port market was US,497/TEU, down US1/TEU from the previous period, a drop of 17.3%.

The transportation market for Japan's routes is basically stable, and the market freight rates have fallen slightly. On September 19, the freight index for China's export to Japan was 959.29 points.
