Major emergency, ports paralyzed, flights to China grounded

Samira Samira 2026-01-07 09:52:55

Sunny Worldwide LogisticsIt is a logistics company with more than 20 years of transportation experience, focusing on markets such as Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, and Southeast Asia. It is more of a cargo owner than a cargo owner~

According to the "Consular Express" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on January 3, the United States launched a military attack on Venezuela, and Venezuela's security risks increased significantly. On the same day, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency successively issued emergency notices restricting flights flying in the airspace near Venezuela. China's only direct flight to Venezuela was also cancelled.

The U.S. military operation against Venezuela has also caused damage to key ports, completely paralyzed oil exports, and significantly increased navigation risks in the Caribbean.

Flights canceled at multiple airports in Latin America

According to reports, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration issued an emergency notice at around 1 a.m. local time on January 3, temporarily banning U.S. airlines from flying near Venezuela and some Caribbean islands, including Puerto Rico.

In addition to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency has issued a similar directive restricting flights in the airspace near Venezuela.

American JetBlue Airways said on the morning of the 3rd local time that it had canceled approximately 215 flights on its route network. Passengers whose flights were canceled can rebook or apply for a refund, a company representative said. Current information shows that the flight regularity rate at San Juan Airport in Puerto Rico is only 2%.

China’s only direct flight to Venezuela canceled

On the afternoon of January 3, Venezuela’s Conviasa Airlines issued a flight cancellation notice: Due to force majeure, flight V0771 from Guangzhou to Caracas, originally scheduled to take off at 3:00 on January 5, 2026, has been cancelled.

It is reported that this route is the only direct route from China to Venezuela. On the morning of January 4, flight V0770 from Caracas to Guangzhou landed safely. According to Jimu News, the passenger plane will return to Venezuela empty and without passengers.

Port paralysis, regional navigation safety risks soaring

The US military action against Venezuela has damaged key ports, completely paralyzed oil exports, and significantly increased navigation risks in the Caribbean.

At the same time, another important port in Venezuela, the Port of La Guaira, was severely damaged in the attack launched by the United States. Data from ShipSight, a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Lines, shows that there is currently no ship in the Port of La Guaira, and port functions are almost at a standstill.

The port of La Guaira was severely damaged, directly damaging the logistics nodes in the region. While the main oil port of José was reported undamaged in the attack, its operations have been completely halted. The broader impact is that due to the political instability and unclear security situation, the normal operating order of Venezuelan ports has been completely disrupted.

In addition, regional navigation safety risks have increased sharply, and relevant waters in the Caribbean Sea have been marked as high-risk areas. As early as November 2025, the FAA warned that civil aircraft flying through Venezuelan airspace would "face dangerous conditions." After this military operation, maritime navigation risks in the area will inevitably escalate simultaneously.
