Maersk and MSC's 2M alliance announced several blank sailings on its transpacific services as recent East Coast and Gulf Coast port shutdowns cause ongoing congestion at U.S. East Coast ports.
Although the strike lasted just three days, most ports in the eastern United States and along the U.S. Gulf Coast were back to work on Friday, October 4. Please note, however, that it is expected to take 2 to 3 weeks to resume normal operations. Additionally, delays and congestion at terminals are expected as operations resume.
Both companies have announced the following blank sailings:
Asia to US East Coast
- TP11/Elephant: Maersk Sydney, 443W, Laem Chabang, October 27
- TP16/Emerald: MSC Texas, 444E, Xiamen, October 31
- TP88/Pelican: MSC Bridgeport, 444E, Xiamen, October 31
- TP18/Lone Star: MSC Long Beach, 445E, Shanghai, November 9
US East Coast to Asia Route
- TP11/Elephant: Maersk Sydney, 450E, Newark, December 15
- TP16/Emerald: MSC Texas, 449W, Savannah, December 8
- TP88/Pelican: MSC Bridgeport, 449W, Houston, December 7
- TP18/Lone Star: MSC Long Beach, 450W, Mobile, December 11
"This situation has severely impacted port operations, resulting in delayed cargo processing times and an increase in vessels waiting in port," MSC said in a report. "This delay has severely impacted the ability of the vessels listed below to return to Asia in a timely manner to resume rotations. ”
