The importance of ocean bill of lading information is self-evident. If there is an error, the order may be changed, or a fine may be imposed. Therefore, bill of lading confirmation is a very important step. But if you look closely, we often make mistakes in small and inconspicuous problems. Today I will summarize the key points and common mistakes in bill of lading confirmation for your reference.

1. Basic information verification

Carefully check whether the basic information on the bill of lading is correct, such as the consignor, consignee, notifier, port, shipping mark, product name, number of boxes, weight, volume, freight prepaid or collect, etc.

2. L/C terms

Under the terms of the letter of credit, you must also understand the special requirements for the bill of lading in the letter of credit to avoid discrepancies.

3. Punctuation marks

The bill of lading uses English to identify information, so punctuation marks are often ignored or mistaken. For example, in the company name: CO., LTD., the punctuation marks are often missed, and there is also the difference between colon and semicolon. Before the phone country code The omission of the sign, etc.

4. English spelling

The company name and address spelled in English are often relatively long, and the letters are often reversed or one or two letters are missing. This cannot be seen during the document review. However, when the letter of credit is reviewed, the discrepancy will be pointed out, which is not worth the loss.

5. Use terms with caution

When the consignor or consignee uses the On behalf clause, they can only represent one company, but cannot represent multiple companies, and be careful not to reverse it.

6. Packaging unit

The packaging unit should be as detailed as possible. Cartons can be used instead of packages. At the same time, it is necessary to distinguish which of the number of packages provided by the customer is the total number of packages and which is the number of sub-packages to avoid confusion. This is to prevent subsequent objections from shipping companies or discrepancies in customs declaration data, resulting in potential risks.

7. Quantity spelling

Pay attention to the correspondence between the spelling of English numbers and Arabic numerals. Sometimes it is OK when seeing Arabic numerals, but unexpectedly the English numbers are wrong, such as FIFTY-FIVE (50) CARTONS ONLY!

8. Inland port transshipment terms

If the destination is an inland port, please pay attention to the remarks related to the transshipment terms. Such as "THC AT DESTINATION PORT ON CONSIGNEE S ACCOUNT" "CARGO IN TRANSIT FROM XXXX TO XXXX,EFFECTED BY CONSIGNEE AND FOR CONSIGNEE"S RISKS AND ACCOUNTS". Cannot be omitted!

9. Gross weight and volume

In addition to checking whether the data provided by the customer is consistent, you should also pay attention to whether the data provided by the customer is reasonable. If it is unreasonable, notify the customer in a timely manner. For example: If the CBM provided by the customer is 20' greater than 30, or 40 greater than 65, then it is beyond the reasonable range and should be checked with the customer in time.

10. Loading port, unloading port and destination port

Each shipping company may have different descriptions of the same port and may have special requirements. If guests have special display requirements, be sure to ask the shipping company first if they accept it. If the shipping company does not accept it, the filling material can only be submitted in accordance with the shipping company's requirements.

For example: IRISL LINE's destination port is: BANDAR ABBAS, the unloading port and the destination port must have the words: BANDAR ABBAS PERSIAN GULF OR B.ABBAS PERSIAN GULF, otherwise CNEE cannot clear customs at the destination port.
