For 10 consecutive months, the China-Europe Express has opened more than a thousand trains every month

Recently, the General Administration of Customs released data showing that in the first two months of this year, my country’s total import and export value was 5.44 trillion yuan, an increase of 32.2% over the same period last year. Among them, my country's imports and exports with countries along the “Belt and Road” totaled 1.62 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 23.9%.

During the same period, the China-Europe Express Express also achieved record growth and became the mainstay of trade with countries along the “Belt and Road”. According to data released by China National Railway Corporation, in the first two months of this year, China-Europe Express trains opened 2,213, a year-on-year increase of 96%, and the freight volume reached 209,000 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 106%. Since May 2020, it has maintained a record of more than 1,000 rows in a single month for 10 consecutive months.

In addition, the China-Europe trains in key regions also performed well, stabilizing foreign trade to "run" out of acceleration. For example, in the first two months of this year, a total of 497 China-Europe freight trains entered and exited through Manzhouli Port, an increase of 75.62% year-on-year, and 40,300 TEUs of containers, an increase of 77.74% year-on-year, both hit a record high.

In the first two months of this year, the China-Europe freight trains from Yiwu to Europe exceeded 200, a year-on-year increase of 336%, an unprecedented increase. This is also related to the accumulation of a large number of undelivered goods last year.

For 10 consecutive months, the China-Europe Express has opened more than a thousand trains every month

"During the epidemic, the fast and safe China-Europe Express trains effectively made up for the lack of sea and air transportation, became an indispensable part of the international logistics channel, and played an extremely important role in the transportation of anti-epidemic materials."

Liu Xiangdong, deputy director of the Economic Research Department of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, said in an interview that China is actively promoting the unimpeded trade of the “Belt and Road”, giving full play to the advantages of the China-Europe railway line, stabilizing the supply chain of the industrial chain, and China and the “Belt and Road”. The country's trade is expanding day by day, and it effectively plays a positive role in stabilizing foreign trade, especially for some domestic cities that are connected by lines.

Tao Jin, deputy director of the Macroeconomic Research Center of the Suning Institute of Finance, said in an interview that the China-Europe Express has greatly improved the transportation conditions from China to Europe, Central Asia and West Asia, significantly reducing trade-related transaction costs and stimulating China’s trade with these regions has grown. At the same time, increasing the number and frequency of China-Europe Express trains will continue to enhance the above effects.

Talking about how this year's China-Europe Express will make efforts to improve the quality of trade and promote the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road" joint construction? Liu Xiangdong said that, on the one hand, it is necessary to solve the problem of smooth flow of goods, improvement of quality and efficiency, including promoting the simplification of transshipment procedures along the route of China-Europe trains, promoting digital and green development, adopting more flexible transportation and handover methods, and ensuring safe and smooth railway ports. On the one hand, China-Europe trains in key regions can be added to balance import and export goods, and further reduce international logistics costs and transportation costs.

Tao Jin believes that, first of all, on the basis of the existing routes, more regions in China can be developed to join the China-Europe Railway, and more cities can be included in the China-Europe Railway through the construction of China-Europe railway branch lines or domestic transportation routes connecting important nodes of the China-Europe Railway. Column system.

Secondly, the number of China-Europe Express trains that are already in operation will further increase to cope with larger and more frequent trade. This requires the continued strengthening of railway infrastructure construction in relevant areas of China-Europe Express trains and the need for more complete supporting facilities.
