Sunny Worldwide LogisticsIt is a logistics company with more than 20 years of transportation experience, specializing in markets such as Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, and Southeast Asia. It is more of a cargo owner than a cargo owner~
The goods were supposed to be unloaded at the port, but the owner and forwarding company suddenly received a general average notice from the shipping company!
Recently, a container ship named X-PRESS PYXIS (IMO: 9967536) serving the North American route of the 2M Alliance was suddenly declared general average!
X-PRESS PYXIS co-cabin shipping company MSC and Maersk issued notices to customers, saying that they had received notice that the owner of X-PRESS PYXIS had declared general average (GA), which caught a large number of cargo owners and freight forwarding companies off guard!
MSC stated in the notice that on August 29, the X-PRESS PYXIS stern tube system failed and began to drift in the waters of northeastern Japan. In this case, the shipowner has signed an assistance contract with the tugboat.
Due to the above reasons, the owner of X-PRESS PYXlS has declared general average!
Maersk also stated in a customer notification that the X-PRESS PYXIS berthed in Yokohama on September 17 and had unloaded Yokohama import containers. The shipowner is still evaluating port options to unload the remaining containers on the ship and then proceed to the dry dock for repairs..
“Onboard containers unloaded from the ship at Yokohama or any other port shall not be released, checked or delivered until the cargo interest has made the necessary security arrangements through the designated GA adjuster.”
A notice issued by the insurance company shows that on August 29, the container ship X-PRESS PYXIS was sailing from Busan, South Korea to Yokohama, Japan, when the ship's stern tube leak alarm was triggered. The ship was stopped for investigation, which revealed a malfunction in the stern tube system.
Due to a malfunction, the X-PRESS PYXIS was unable to complete its voyage under its own power. It was subsequently towed to Yokohama Port, Japan, and arrived at Yokohama Port on September 17.
An underwater inspection of the vessel revealed damage to both the stern tube and propeller, requiring major repairs to the vessel in dry dock. Therefore, the container cargo will need to be completely unloaded to allow repairs to the stern tube system.
Taking into account the special costs incurred by the safety of maritime navigation, Montford Shipping Pte. Ltd., the owner of the X-PRESS PYXIS, declared general average, and the Marine Claims Office of Asia Pte Ltd in Singapore acted as the general average adjuster. Calculator.
It is reported that the X-PRESS PYXIS (IMO: 9967536) was built in 2024, has a capacity of 7092TEU, flies the Singapore flag, and is currently deployed by the 2M Alliance on the trans-Pacific route (Maersk TP1 route, MSC's MAPLE route).
Data shows that X-PRESS PYXIS has previously called at Chinese ports such as Hong Kong, Xiamen, Shenzhen Yantian, Ningbo, and Shanghai.
The ship has currently left Yokohama Port, but data from Ship News Network shows that the X-PRESS PYXIS is still out of control.
In view of the fact that the X-PRESS PYXIS has called at many Chinese ports and has been drifting at sea for a long time, with severe delays in shipping schedules. Now that the X-PRESS PYXIS has declared general average, it means that a large number of cargo owners and freight forwarding companies will take advantage of it!
