According to Drewry, a maritime advisory agency, shippers/shippers must be prepared to endure at least two more years of rising freight rates and tight supply.

It also predicts that the average freight including spot, contract, return and regional trade will increase by about 23% this year; the agency said that for certain return routes, the price increase will be "substantially higher."

Because of the frequent fluctuations in shipping timeliness and freight rates, the Ministry of Transport has also paid attention to this matter. Recently, the Chinese government posted a message from the Ministry of Transportation to netizens about "seaborne container detention and cost soaring". From the message, it can be seen that it is really too difficult for foreigners!

Many foreign trade people said with emotion that this year they are not working for the boss, but for the shipping company...

It is worth noting that under the current “high fever” situation in ocean shipping, shipping companies are preparing for a new wave of price increases-many shipping companies on the Pan Pacific route are preparing to levy and raise a number of surcharges!

In response to recent market changes, liner companies such as Maersk, MSC, Hapag-Lloyd, and Wanhai Shipping have successively announced adjustments to some freight rates.

Maersk adjusts multiple surcharges

A few days ago, Maersk issued an announcement stating that although the congestion of the Suez Canal has been eased, there is still a large backlog of ships in the early stage, which has led to the concentration of ships arriving in the port recently. European port terminals and warehouses are facing great operational pressure and the waiting time for ships to enter the port has increased.

In view of this, Maersk stated that it will charge a congestion surcharge for all land transport carriers (Carrier Haulage) and multi-modal carriers (Multi-carrier).

Specifically, for all bookings for barges, trains and multimodal transport to and from major European ports, a congestion surcharge of 10 euros per container will be charged;

For all truck bookings to and from major European ports, a congestion surcharge of 25 euros per container is charged.

The fee is valid from May 4th to June 30th. However, if the congestion is not alleviated, the implementation time of the surcharge may be extended.

In addition to the congestion surcharge, Maersk will also charge import service fees (IMP) from the world to China's PRN ports, which will be implemented on June 1 (regulated corridors) and May 1 (non-regulated corridors).

The charging standard is: all 20-foot cold boxes are charged at 150 yuan per box; all 40-foot cold boxes are charged at 250 yuan per box.

Earlier, Maersk had already raised part of its fees in early April:

1. Increase the terminal operating charge (DTHC) for the destination port from the world (except OCE) to North America (the United States and Canada). The scope of application includes 40-foot containers and 45-foot tall containers. The new fee will be implemented on April 1. Compared with the previous freight, the terminal operating fee at the port of destination generally rises by US$20 per box.

2. The same will be implemented on April 1, including the global port of departure terminal operating fee/destination port terminal operating fee (OTHC/DTHC) to and from Singapore, for all 40-foot refrigerated containers.

3. Adjusted the destination document fee (DDF) for the global travel to and from Singapore.
