Two hours of work takes nearly a day, and the congestion in the Port of Liverpool has increased! The freight company is unable to obtain the trailer reservation and refuses to provide service

At the end of last year, the serious congestion in the British port of Felixstowe caused the shipping company to diverted to Liverpool Port (Liverpool), which put considerable pressure on Liverpool's land operations. The port has continued to suffer from congestion so far this year, with freight companies struggling to book trailers and increasingly worried about the port’s viability.

According to a local independent freight forwarder, the work that usually takes two hours to complete now lasts nearly a day, while another freight company said that the port seems to be understaffed and restricted access has severely slowed the flow of goods. .

"I have a vehicle booking slot at 7 in the morning. I gave a tip at noon, but I didn't leave the port until 12:30," a freightman said. "We tried to book a time slot for Monday, but found that the port blocked Monday's trailer booking, which forced us to use Saturday's off-peak hours, resulting in the need to pay drivers for overtime."

"Even so, using three trucks to transport seven containers takes a whole day. I want to say that this cost us £1,500 a week in unnecessary labor costs, which is 50% of our profits."

Last year, when the port of Felixstowe was in crisis, carriers and shippers increased their inventories in Liverpool. Some freight companies believed that the current problem began with the port seeking to attract more services.

Freight forwarders are also beginning to feel the pressure, as more and more freight companies are unable to obtain trailer bookings and refuse to provide services to Liverpool.

"Many freight companies outside the Liverpool area refuse to go there because of low productivity and increased costs, which leads us to bear terminal rent and detention fees," said a freight forwarder.

"The surge in demand has exceeded expectations and is now incurring actual costs as a result, and the port knows that it faces major problems."

Another freight company stated that Liverpool Peel Ports allowed too many ships to arrive, but it exceeded its handling capacity and did not allow employees on leave to return to work.

Compounding the problem is the lack of support for small freight companies at the port, one of whom described Peel's response as "radical."

However, the major transport companies seem to have taken their own stance-Maritime Transport, the largest container transport company in the UK, told customers that it will cease operations from today and charge new fees for Liverpool’s delays.

The company recommends that all work must be completed at least 48 hours before the delivery date, arrived and cleaned up, and any unfinished work must be returned immediately.

The company added: “Due to the port’s shocking performance, we cannot continue to bleed and leave trucks idle. The port is heavily accumulated and understaffed to meet the availability of trailer VBS. However, the port continues to receive more ships, We need our customers to solve these problems."

Other expenses include demurrage for vehicles waiting at the port for more than 90 minutes, a £100 surcharge for pick-up on Sunday, and any container that uses a trailer VBS appointment application will immediately be classified as "real-time operation", starting from this point Cancellation will incur further fees.
One of the smaller freight companies said: “It’s in a crisis now. I’m really not sure why the port has not come to a standstill. But I’ve never heard of it. You must make reservations three days in advance. Even then, you may not get it. To."

"VBS booking does not make things easier. It is booked at the container level rather than the transport level. So if there is any problem, you cannot substitute one container for another. This is also flawed. We are now abandoning the container. Work, which will leave people without goods."
